Lake Manyara National Park
Arusha
The name ‘Serengeti’ has become shorthand for the ultimate safari adventure! But majestic Tanzania offers much more.
This 7-day round trip from Arusha takes you to Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro, before offering you 3 days to explore the ‘endless plains’ of the world’s most famous National Park.
Ernest Hemmingway called Lake Manyara the ‘loveliest lake in Africa’ (sorry Victoria!). The surrounding area is famed for its baboons, and is an excellent spot to see hippos, giraffes, elephants and tree climbing lions. An afternoon game drive lets you enjoy these creatures at their most active.
The world’s largest open, inactive volcanic crater, Ngorongoro is one of Africa’s finest wildlife conservation areas and home to over 25,000 large animals including lions, zebra wildebeest and gazelles. It is also one of your best opportunities to see black rhinos, the rarest of the Big 5.
Serengeti National Park is the crown jewel of Tanzania, known for its annual migration of wildebeest and zebra. Other animals include the Big 5 (more then 3,000 lions and 1,000 leopards call the Serengeti home), cheetahs, hyenas, baboons, African wild dogs and giraffes. Bird watchers should also keep their eyes peeled for over 500 species that inhabit the plains.
This itinerary spends an extra two nights in a mobile tented camp in the Serengeti.
